Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing technique originating in Japan. I practice and teach Usui Reiki, which is the original style developed by Master Mikao Usui. Reiki harnesses the Universal (Rei) Life Force (Ki) that surrounds everything in this world. It doesn’t involve any deities or spirits, and definitely no demons. It isn’t tied to any religion, therefore anyone can learn or receive it.

The practitioner channels the Universal Life Force into the client. That’s it. And while it sounds simple, and it indeed is quite simple to learn and do, there are now clinical, peer reviewed trials that show Reiki to be effective in relieving pain and accelerating healing in hospitalised patients.

What is the Universal Life Force then?

We can name it whatever we like: the Universe, the Creator, Source, God, Electromagnetic Radiation, or try to explain it with Quantum Physics, it doesn’t change the fact that it works, and it works reliably.

What happens at a Reiki healing session?

You will arrive on time, fill up a form, and lie down on the therapy bed waiting for you. You will remain fully clothed and fully conscious throughout the session, unless you come really tired and fall asleep. Should that happen, I will still complete the healing, so don’t worry, enjoy your nap.

I will only touch you with your permission, and only on your head, your hands, and your feet. I will never touch your torso.

You will be able to adjust yourself, keep your eyes open, clear your throat, yawn… whatever makes you comfortable.

How does Reiki feel?

Reiki feels pleasant. I don’t massage you, or prod you with needles. I don’t even have to touch you at all. Therefore, Reiki feels comfortable and non-invasive. Many people describe a warm sensation emanating from the practitioner’s hand. Some, who are more in tune with energies, can see colours, or see the energy flowing.

Some people cry, or laugh, or fall asleep during the session. These are all very natural reactions, they are caused by the relief your nervous system experiences.

Sometimes you might feel light-headed, or nauseous, or even break out in hives. Mild symptoms are normal and are part of the cleansing effect of Reiki, but if you experience any distress during or after the healing, please seek your GP’s advice, as this will not be caused by Reiki.

What is Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy?

Think of it as a really deep guided meditation. It can be anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes long. You remain fully conscious and aware of what is happening to you throughout the session, and you are the one telling your story. Once I guided you into the memory of the past life you need to see, I will not suggest anything. I will ask open ended questions that you will answer for yourself.

In a nutshell, you fill up a form, we have a little consultation about what you want to achieve, then we will do some relaxation techniques, create a safe space for you in your mind where you can retreat if any unpleasant memories surface, and then we jump into the most relevant past life you’ve had that explains something from the present.

We look at three significant memories of that life – usually childhood, adulthood, and death. Witnessing your death doesn’t mean you die in this life. Nothing can hurt you during the session; it’s just like remembering that time when you felt really unwell when you were a child. The memory might make you sad, or angry, uncomfortable, nostalgic, even relieved and happy. But it will not effect your current health.

After the session we discuss what you saw, and make sure you are OK to go home by yourself. You will be able to stay as long as you need to. Then you go home and try not to dwell too much on that life. You have one now you need to live. Integrate the lessons you had to learn from that life, and heal yourself in the present.

When you go home, the memories from that life might remain vivid for a few days. You may remember mundane little things, or even big events, and have a big realisation. This is normal, and it will fade within a week.

What is Tarot?

Tarot is a deck of cards, made of cardboard and ink. It doesn’t open portals to the demon realm, or anything of that sort. I am not a medium, and I don’t work with spirits during a tarot reading. I only say what I see in the cards.

Fortune telling with the tarot works through synchronicity – maybe quantum physics? Goodness knows. There is no scientific explanation on how it actually works, but that doesn’t stop the cards in reading us to filth.

During the reading, you can ask as many questions as we can fit into the time. In 30 minutes, I can usually answer two big questions that spawn smaller or clarifying questions.

I will ask you in the beginning if you have a question for the cards. You don’t have to have one, but it helps to keep the reading focused and to the point. If you don’t, we will ask “What is something the client needs to pay attention to right now?” and take it from there. I don’t mind either way, but having a question prepared is usually better for you.
